Linda Green is an independent health care consultant based in Newton, Massachusetts. Linda’s current projects include supporting a state level policy health care reform policy process; development of managed care procurements; and increasing use of all payer claims data sets. Linda was previously the Director of Health Data at the Massachusetts Division of Health Care Finance and Policy and the Director of Managed Care Reimbursement for the MassHealth program.

Linda holds a master’s degree in public administration from New York University.

Jeanne O’Brien is a senior advisor to organizations seeking to develop hospital-affiliated multi-specialty groups and/or be prepared to succeed with payors and providers in an accountable-care environment. Clients seek out Jeanne’s planning skills, wide-ranging operational experience and industry connections to help executives and physicians develop new organizations and new methods. Ms. O’Brien has unique success helping physicians from diverse, competitive settings come together to forge a new practice entity. Ms. O’Brien has been a C-level executive over 20+ years of significant accomplishments including Executive Director and Vice President of Network Development of a multi-hospital system which restructured its physician organization to handle risk based contracts for the major health plans in Massachusetts including the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Alternative Quality Contract (AQC) (Steward HealthCare) and Chief Operating Officer of two Independent Practice Associations with expertise in recruiting and retaining physicians, negotiating contracts with physicians, health plans, hospitals and vendors, developing an information technology strategy, as well as constructing and overseeing multiple budgets and revenue streams (New England Quality Care Alliance and Primary Care, LLC). Ms. O’Brien is a graduate of Curry College and Lesley University.

Ms. Brenman has close to ten years of experience in the health care industry. She has worked in insurance, private practice as well as in the academic medical center environment. Julie has strong experience in practice operations, project management and in leveraging technology to increase functional effectiveness and efficiency. Before entering the healthcare field, Ms. Brenman worked as a healthcare reporter for several years and as a staff assistant for a congressman. Ms. Brenman received her MBA from Boston University and her BA from Brandeis University.

Wendy Weitzner

Wendy Weitzner is a Vice President with The Innova Group in Boston. The Innova Group is a healthcare planning consultancy with offices in Tucson, Austin, and Boston.

Wendy has over 23 years experience in healthcare operations and planning, both as an administrator and as a consultant. Her experience both as a client and as a consultant allows her to bring a unique and balanced perspective to strategic and facility planning projects. She is particularly appreciated for her ability to interface among strategic, capital, clinical, and facilities planning — helping clients turn data into decisions in complex projects.

Wendy is widely published and has presented at numerous national and regional conferences. She is a recipient of the American College of Healthcare Executives’ Distinguished Healthcare Executive award. She holds an MBA from Simmons, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Management from Harvard, a Master’s in Psychology from Harvard, and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Tufts. In addition to WCHM, she is on the Board of the New England Society for Healthcare Strategy and the Boston Architectural College.

Afsana Akhter is the Director of Business Development at Medullan, Inc. — a rapid-growth technology services firm that provides innovative technology solutions to the U.S. Healthcare Industry. Afsana leads Medullan’s efforts in sales and business partnerships.

Prior to Medullan, Afsana was the Director of Sales Engineering at Mazu Networks, where she grew and led a technical sales team as the company achieved its first $10 million in revenue. Previously, Afsana was at Cisco Systems where she worked on first generation VoIP and Data over Cable technologies.

Afsana holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Afsana was named by Mass High Tech as one of 10 outstanding women in technology at its 2008 Women to Watch awards.

Cheryl DiPaolo

Cheryl DiPaolo is the Director of Care Management at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts. As a Registered Nurse, she practiced at the Boston Veterans Administration Medical Center and New England Baptist Hospital. As a Clinical Educator, she developed Middlesex Hospital’s first Executive Management Leadership and Development program for senior administrators. After completion of a Masters in Health Care administration, she became Director of Clinical Services for Caritas Norwood where she implemented disease management protocols in home health care.

While at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, she practiced care management at Emerson Hospital, Lahey Clinic and Brigham and Women’s Hospital before her role as Senior Clinical Consultant where she designed and managed performance improvement strategies for Physician organizations and hospitals . In her current role as Director of Care Management at Emerson Hospital, she manages the care management team and is partnering with the hospital medicine program to develop a more integrated care delivery system.

Susan Kilroy-Ames

Ms. Kilroy-Ames is the Manager of the Division of Epidemiology & Data Services at the Cambridge Public Health Department/Cambridge Health Alliance and also manages the Regional Epidemiologic Services Center for a region of 27 communities in Massachusetts. She holds a masters degree in public health with a concentration in epidemiology and biostatistics. She serves on the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Workgroup. Ms. Kilroy-Ames was formerly the Executive Director of a Boston non-profit specializing in asthma prevention and control. Prior to obtaining her master’s degree she spent a number of years working in basic science research.

Anne Feierstein is the Director of Quality Management for Senior Whole Health (SWH), a Special Needs Managed Care Plan representing over 7,000 elderly lives. Anne has twenty years experience in the healthcare environment – having worked in the acute care, medical malpractice, research and managed care settings. She began her career as a Behavioral Counselor, moving to public health and gerontology research abroad. Upon moving to Boston she began her foray into the insurance arena, serving in key roles of Quality and Accreditation at Aetna US Healthcare and ValueOptions.

She holds an undergraduate degree from Towson State University and a Graduate degree from Johns Hopkins.

Nancy Costello

Nancy Costello is a Clinical Data Analyst with the Institute for Health Metrics since August 2010. She is responsible for working with clients to collect and analyze data for IHMs consulting and research activities. She also develops reports and presentations based on IHM findings both for internal review and to be provided to IHM clients and external constituents. Nancy specializes in conducting analyses to examine how new regulations influence the IHM products. Her analysis is conducted on a variety of policy issues including health reform, health IT, chronic illness, quality improvement, and Medicare and Medicaid.

Prior to joining IHM, Nancy worked as a Training Specialist at Senior Whole Health. Nancy holds a master’s degree from the College of Healthcare Administration at Simmons College in Boston, MA. A native of Massachusetts, she received a B.A. in Business Management at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell.

Julie DeSorgher

Julie DeSorgher is the Director of Operations for Caritas Christi Network Services (CCNS). CCNS represents the 1,100 physicians affiliated with the six eastern Massachusetts Caritas hospitals in their managed care contracts. Julie began her career in nursing and nursing administration, and then worked for Arthur Andersen & Co. in their health care consulting practice in San Francisco. Moving to Boston, she worked in Finance at Beth Israel Hospital, at Harvard Community Health Plan / Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare as the Director of Financial and Utilization Analysis, and at Harvard Vanguard as the Director of Medical Management. Prior to joining Caritas, Julie took a slight detour in her health care career and worked at Auerbach Associates, an executive search firm specializing in higher education.

Julie holds a BSN from Winona State University in Minnesota and a Masters of Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Jennifer Groves

Jennifer Groves

Jennifer is an Operations Manager with Owens & Minor. During her 14 years of experience in finance and operations, she has lead teams in business development, financial analysis, strategic planning, value steam mapping, and operational improvement. Additionally, she has experience in scorecard development and reporting, budget and forecasting, and market analysis. Jennifer has a green belt in both Six Sigma and Lean. Her recent process improvement initiatives include ED flow, patient discharge, and hospital supply chain. Ms. Groves has lectured at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement on quantifying the financial savings of quality improvement and taught all levels of hospital management on identifying operational waste and practical uses of Lean tools to improve healthcare operations. She has demonstrated her communication, leadership, problem solving abilities and dedication to understanding the customer’s needs in order to produce an excellent end product.

Jennifer graduated from Clark University with a Masters in Business Administrations. Prior to process improvement, she was the Director of Budget and Financial Management and a practicing Certified Public Accountant focused on private physician practices.

Nancy O’Hare

Nancy O’Hare is a Health Care Strategist with a deep commitment to innovation in health care and a strong interest in improving health care services, payment structure, care quality and coordination of care. Throughout her career, Nancy has worked towards creating novel solutions to health care challenges with team structures that bring people together from all levels and aspects of the health care industries. Most recently, Nancy has focused on generating innovative ways to deliver primary care. She has worked on numerous projects involving the strategic design of health care services and facilities. Nancy is clinically trained as a Physiologist and has worked extensively in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Nancy enjoys speaking, writing, and sharing health care information across the media.

Nancy holds a doctorate in Applied Anatomy and Physiology from Boston University. She is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. Nancy, a Sloan Fellow, received her MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.

Martha Shane

Martha Shane

Martha Shane is the Program Manager for Provider Network Performance at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, managing network-wide programs to maximize physician and hospital quality and efficiency. She is responsible for operations of network medical management programs throughout MA, as well as enterprise-wide management accountabilities for pay for performance contracting, provider recognition programs, and the industry-leading Quality Grants program.

Prior to her current position, Martha was the Regional Clinical Manager for Case Management Programs at Harvard Pilgrim. Earlier in her career, she held clinical RN positions in several leading academic medical centers in New England, specializing in cardiac care. Martha holds a BS from Fordham University, a nursing diploma from Mass General Hospital School of Nursing, and an MBA from Boston University.

Rachel Labas

Rachel is the Coordinator of Media and Public Relations at Signature Healthcare – which includes Brockton Hospital as well as Signature Medical Group – 150 physicians and other direct care providers and 2,000 employees operating from seven locations in Southeastern Massachusetts. In her role, Rachel manages internal and external web content as well as handling writing needs and media interactions for the organization.

Prior to Signature Healthcare, Rachel worked at Lois Paul and Partners, a Boston-based public relations firm, where she assisted in the management of life-sciences and high-tech clients through weekly activity reporting, daily client interactions, developing team budgets, and coaching junior team members.

Rachel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Boston University and is currently working toward a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration at Suffolk University.
